Italy is set to welcome 4.5 million workers, including opportunities for Bangladeshis. The country plans to bring in 450,000 foreign workers from various nations through a sponsorship visa program, with hiring expected to be completed by 2025. Bangladeshis will also have equal chances to participate. This decision was made by the country's cabinet on the morning of July 7. Expatriate Bangladeshis in Italy are thrilled about this news, believing it will pave the way for many from Bangladesh to come to Italy. So far this year, out of the 136,000 workers announced, 82,000 have already received their visas, while the remaining applicants are still in the visa processing stage. The government has also released the sponsor visa gazette as part of this ongoing sponsorship initiative.

The country has introduced new quotas for foreign workers in various fields, including agriculture, tourism, fishing, passenger bus driving, nursing, elderly care, and welding. Additionally, there will be opportunities in construction, shipbuilding, large truck driving for goods transport, hotel services, mechanics, telecommunications, and food production. However, due to the lack of an agreement with Bangladesh regarding Italian driving licenses, Bangladeshi nationals are unable to drive trucks or buses in Italy. On the bright side, if a Bangladeshi resides in a country that has a driving license agreement with Italy, they can apply from there. After the UK, Italy ranks as the second most popular European destination for expatriates, and many Bangladeshi expats have been living in Italy for quite some time.
